Imperial Treasury

The Imperial Treasury is also known as Schatzkammer and it is located in the Hofburg Palace in Vienna. You’ll be amazed with the priceless jewels and gems this place has on display.

The building houses treasures dating back a thousand years and the Imperial Crown is the masterpiece that draws the most attention. The Imperial Crown dates back to the time of the Roman Empire. It’s outstanding range of diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires really are eye catching.

Due to the enormous amount of treasures, the building had to be split into two sections. The Imperial Profane section houses crown jewels, the thrown cot and Imperial items like robes, gems and jewellery. The Sacerdotal Treasuries section houses ecclesiastical items like the Agate Bowl.

Other amazing items in the building include the 9th Century Saber of Charlemagne, the 8th Century Holy Lance and the The Burgundian treasures like gems and oil paintings. Collections of Habsburgs, a tooth from St. Peter and John the Baptist, a section of cloth used at the Last Supper are also on display here.
