Burgtheater

Vienna
The Burgtheater, which is known to locals, as the “The Burg”, is Austria’s National Theatre. In days gone by it was also a place where art and culture issues used to be discussed.

Karl Hasenaure and Gottfried Semper built the famous Burgtheater between 1874 and 1878. Today it’s the largest German speaking theatre in the world.

The theatre consists of a turntable stage, which includes four platforms and two stage wagons. amazing techniques and fantastic scenery changes occur here due to its computer controlled drives which were installed in the 90’s and in 2004 the new orchestra platform was installed.

Located in the first district of Vienna, the exterior of Burgtheater is just as amazing. From its white marble façade, to its sculptured statues of Stiller and Goethe, it truly is beautiful. Try and catch a show here – it’s a worthwhile experience!
