This well known monument is one of Vienna’s most famous attractions and can be found in the south east of the city in the 3rd district. This famous Palace is filled with an array of collections of 19th, 20th and 21st century Art and Medieval and Baroque Art.
The Belvedere Palace was built in the 18th Century by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt and is made up of two Palaces - The Upper Belvedere and the Lower Belvedere.
The Upper Belvedere houses the masterwork of Medieval Art, Klimt paintings (The Kiss and Judith) and frescos designed by Carlo Carlone. The Lower Belvedere houses the famous Marble Hall, The Golden Room and the State bedroom.
Another spectacular section within the Palace is the Orangery where you’ll come across outstanding views of the Upper Belvedere and the garden which contains many statues and water fountains. The Orangery is situated beside the Lower Belvedere. Other sections worth visiting in the Palace include the Palace Stables and the Fin de siecle and the Vienna Secession.
