Kunsthistorisches

Vienna
Another one of Vienna’s popular museum is the Kunsthistorisches located in the Vienna Ringstrabe.

This is a fantastic octagonal dome, which houses some of the best examples of fine art and decorative art in the world.

The Lipizzaner Museum and the Ambras Castle are also part of this museum but are in different locations. It was purposely built to house the Habsburg’s art collection (notably the portrait and armour of Ferdinand of Tirol), which is now probably the dominant collection within the museum.

The picture gallery is located on the 1st floor in the museum and consists of famous works by Jan van Eyck, Raphael (Madonna in Green), and Caravaggio. The collection of sculptures and decorative arts on the ground floor includes automatons, clocks, tapestries, glyptic art, marvels, bronze items, cabinets and many more.

Other outstanding sections within the museum comprises of the awesome collection of Egyptian and Near Eastern Collection on the 1st floor, the Greek and Roman collections on the ground floor and the coin cabinet on the 2nd floor.

The museum also contains a café and restaurant and serves amazing dishes in the Cupola Hall. Guided tours, lectures and gallery talks are also provided along with function areas for dinners, functions and presentations.
