Karlskirche Cathedral

Vienna
Karlskirche Cathedral is probably Vienna’s most famous landmark. Located in Karlsplatz, it is easily reached from Karlsplatz metro station (U1, U2, U4).

The church was built in the early 18th century in honour of Karl Borromeo. The cathedral holds elements of Greek, Roman and Viennese style architecture. You can se this specifically in the entrance porch, and the cathedral’s domes and columns.

The green dome reaches 236 feet. Take the elevator up here and you can view the cathedrals spectacular frescos. There are different stories engraved on the stone pillars as you enter.

You can’t miss the oval shaped pond, which lies in front of the Cathedral. The cathedrals reflection can be seen here with a sculpture by Henry Moore featured here also.
